That lab was boring

All we did was put skittles (blech) in water, and watched them for 7 minutes. On one of my lab notes, I wrote for the minute 6 observation: "I've been staring at skittles for 6 minutes. What am I doing with my life?"

  2. If you want unsolicited tips on what brings people to blogs here they are:

Ask yourself who your audience is and what you're offering them.

I look for humor and a sense of connection (however fleeting) that I'm not alone in this craziness OR something that challenges how I see the world.

I do not go to blogs to read about boring minutia or the self-conscious ramblings of a teen. (I do that at work, already.)

A way to get attention is to write about things that have meaning to you and to have an opinion about what's going on in the world. Comment on other peoples' blogs by adding to the conversation, linking to content that continues and extends the conversation, or referring to something you've written that is relevant, not just advertising your own stuff.

    Just a thought.

  5. "not just advertising your own stuff"

I wasn't advertising my blog, rather I was asking for help from a successful blogger in a place where he was most likely to read it.

  6. I was not talking about this blog, rather, I was contemplating a new blog. I was asking Mr. Border, not any random person, and I do not enjoy having my blog called "boring minutia or the self-conscious ramblings of a teen."
